Serphia Curry oversees the Department of Public Safety’s classification, compensation, and payroll programs; administering employee benefits, retirement, and wellness programs; coordinating all performance, discipline, and employee grievance actions; and coordinating the department’s employment process.

Curry joined SCDPS in February 2022 as the Assistant Director of Human Resources, and was named the Office of Human Resources Director in April 2026. She has held positions with several other state agencies over more than two decades, including the Department of Mental Health, Department of Administration, Department of Education, Department of Social Services, Department of Transportation, and the South Carolina Budget and Control Board.

Curry earned a Master’s degree in Human Resources Management and Human Resources Development from the Webster University in 2007 and graduated from the Certified Public Manager program in 2020.
